Job Description:

As a Sous Chef at Tryn Restaurant, you will play a key role in supporting the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations. Your creativity, leadership, and culinary expertise will help ensure that our guests enjoy consistently high-quality dishes that reflect the restaurant's standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation and culinary activities.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes, portioning, cooking, and presentation standards.
  • Manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented in accordance with the restaurant's high standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food costs to maximize profitability.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create and update menus, incorporating seasonal ingredients and innovative techniques.
  • Ensure consistency in food quality and presentation.
  • Address and resolve any issues or concerns that arise in the kitchen.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-end restaurant or hotel.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification.
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety.
  • Creative and passionate about food with a keen eye for detail.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid South African ID or work permit.

  • Dispose of waste and recycling in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Support kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs to the kitchen management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager.

Requirements:
